
Linus and Vanessa Lorenzen recently returned from a 10-day stay in Denmark
where they attended the wedding of Deborah Ann Lorenzen and Peter Lorenzen
Petersen. Deborah is the daughter of Niels Lorenzen of Ferndale and Susan
Lorenzen of Concord, and the niece of Linus Lorenzen. Linus stood in for
Niels, thereby having the honor of giving the bride away. Deborah is a
graduate of Fresno State and is now a vice president with Bank of New York.
The wedding was May 11 and was held at Tinglev Kirke, Tinglev, Denmark.
People attended from all parts of the world.
The reception was held at Knapp Restaurant and Hotel in Aabenraa. Knapp is a country inn which dates back to 1661. The wedding party and guests stayed in the beautifully restored suites as guests of the bride and groom A five-course sit-down dinner was served with background music of violins, piano and harp. After dinner there was dancing until the wee hours. The following morning all were invited to breakfast., The bride and groom will make their home in London, and are honeymooning in Cuba.
Vanessa and Linus were the house guests of Margit and Kurt Hansen, in Guderup. Margit is the sister of the groom. They were treated to wonderful accommodations in their home. The Friday before the wedding the Hansens hosted a party to celebrate Margit's birthday and Deborah's and Peter's wedding.
On Sunday after breakfast much of the family went on tour with Margit and Kurt. Margit had done a lot of research and they visited the house where Peter Lorenzen, Linus's' father, had lived, and many farnily grave sites.
They saw much of the countryside, castles, and historical sites. At the end of the day they visited a local dairy farm which was owned and operated by Margit's cousins. On tour that day was Cindy Hansen (sister of the bride), her husband Jeff Hansen, who had performed half of the wedding ceremony that was in English, their son Peter, Chris Lorenzen (sister of the bride) and fiancé Roger Kenworthy, Susan Lorenzen, and Linus and Vanessa.
On Monday Linus and Vanessa left Guderup and traveled to Odense where they stayed two days at the Grand Hotel and visited the home of Hans Christian Andersen. They enjoyed the restaurants and shops and visited several churches in the small quaint town.
On Wednesday they traveled by rail to Copenhagen where they visited Tivoli Gardens. The following day they went by rail to the airport for the long flight home.
Deborah, Lorenzen Petersen is also the niece of Marie Boynton and William Lorenzen, both of Femdale, and Arnold Lorenzen of Washington.
